The featured design for October 30 is my very own design, the Marigold Beanie.
Inspired by the vibrant colors and intricate patterns of marigold flowers, the Marigold Hat crochet pattern promises to add a touch of elegance and charm to your wardrobe.
Materials:
Merino worsted weight yarn: (feel free to use any color you like) Photo uses merino hand-dyed from Baa-realis
60 yards blue
40 yards ivory
40 yards green
50 yards ombre (yellow or orange)
HOOK SIZE: F (3.75) and G (4.0 mm)
Pompom (optional)
GAUGE SWATCH: 7 rows hdc = 2”, 10 hdc = 2”; granny square measures 2.75”
Directions are given for child’s size measuring 18” circumference and 7” height.
Stitches:
V-stitch: hdc, ch 1, hdc
Ultimate Finish: Pick up length of yarn with yarn needle. Thread through outer lp of each remaining st. Pull tight to close. Video Tutorial
Directions:
GRANNY SQUARES: (Make 7)
Rnd 1: With G hook and ombre yarn, ch 2 (or magic ring), 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, working in FLO, *4 hdc in next st, sl st in next st,* repeat around (4 petals). Join with sl st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, working in BLO, *(hdc, ch 1, hdc) in next lp, ch 1,* repeat around. Join with sl st.
Rnd 4: *Ch 1, 5 dc in V-stitch, sl st between next V-stitch,* repeat around (8 petals). Join with sl st. Fasten off ombre yarn.
Rnd 5: Attach green yarn in any open ch-1 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in same sp, *3 dc ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp (corner),* 3 dc in next ch-1 sp,* repeat around. Join with sl st. Fasten off green yarn.
Sew 7 granny squares tog in a row. Then sew first and last granny squares tog to form a ring.

RIBBING:
Rnd 1: With F hook, attach ivory yarn at right edge of any square, ch 1, *hdc at seam, hdc in 3 dc, hdc in ch, hdc in 3 dc, hdc in ch, hdc in 3 dc,* repeat around (12 hdc per granny square – 84 [96, 108] hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnds 2-4: Ch 1, *fpdc, bpdc,* repeat around. Fasten off ivory yarn at end of Rnd 4.
HAT:
Flip hat to work on opposite side of granny squares.
Rnd 1: With G hook, attach blue yarn at right edge of any square, ch 1, *hdc at seam, hdc in 3 dc, hdc in ch, hdc in 3 dc, hdc in ch, hdc in 3 dc,* repeat around (12 hdc per granny square – 84 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *hdc in next 10 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (77 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *hdc in next 9 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (70 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, *hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (63 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *hdc in next 7 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (56 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, *hdc in next 6 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (49 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, *hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (42 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 9: Ch 1, *hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (35 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, *hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (28 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (21 hdc). Join with sl st.
Rnd 12: Ch 1, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc tog,* repeat around (14 hdc). Join with sl st. Fasten off blue yarn leaving 6” length. Close top with Ultimate Finish.
Add pompom to top of hat.
