Zoo Blog Hop - Axolotl!
Who can resist this adorable little salamander who always wears a smile! Today we have an amigurumi pattern and a pillow pattern.
Axolotl Amigurumi from Anvi's Granny Crochet
Materials:
Bernat Blanket super bulky yarn
8.5 oz. MC
0.5 oz.CC
2 yards blue
1 yard red
Size M (9.0 mm) crochet hook
18 mm black safety eyes
Fiberfill
Pillow measures approximately 15” at widest point.
Gauge: 5 sc = 2”, 5 rows = 3”
DIRECTIONS:
SIDES: (Make 2)
Row 1: With MC yarn, ch 25, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 23 sc (24 sc).
Rows 2-9: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc in remaining sts (32 sc at end of Row 9).
Rows 10-18: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.
Rows 19-27: Ch 1, turn, dec over first 2 sts, sc in remaining sts (14 sc at end of Row 27). Fasten off.
EYES: (Make 2)
With blue yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off leaving 9” length for sewing. Insert black safety eye into center and sew eyes to Rnds 16-17, 8 sts from the outer edges.
MOUTH:
With red yarn, make straight sts over Rows 8-9 in a curved smile from below one eye to below the other eye.
ASSEMBLY:
Place pillow right sides together, sc through both thicknesses around outer edge to close, stuffing as you go.
GILLS: (Make 6)
With CC yarn, Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, 4 sc in last ch, working on opposite side of starting ch, sc in next 4 ch, sc in last ch (14 sc). Fasten off leaving 9” length for sewing. Sew 3 gills on each side of the head from Row 15 to the top of the head.
